Hi, my name is Stacy Tavares. My journey into lactation care began after the birth of my youngest son. I had faced breastfeeding challenges years before with my older children due to a lack of support, so I was determined to succeed the next time around. But despite my best efforts, breastfeeding proved even more difficult than I had anticipated.
We faced a number of challenges—latching issues caused by tongue and lip ties, jaundice, weight loss, low milk supply, and the need to pump and supplement until he could fully nurse at the breast. Unfortunately, the hospital offered little meaningful support. I was sent home with my baby who couldn't latch, a nipple shield, the wrong size pump flanges, and no guidance on how to supplement. Pumping quickly became a nightmare of its own, resulting in sore and damaged nipples. These early struggles quickly began to take a toll on my mental health. I felt like I was failing as a mother because something that was supposed to come “natural” wasn’t easy at all.
As time went on, new challenges emerged: oversupply, clogged ducts, lactose overload in my baby, nursing strikes, trouble introducing solids, and eventually the emotional rollercoaster of weaning.
But through those struggles, something shifted. The sense of accomplishment I felt after overcoming these obstacles, and being able to breastfeed my son, became one of the most meaningful achievements of my life. That experience sparked a deep desire to help other parents facing similar challenges. It ultimately led me to change careers and dedicate myself to providing compassionate lactation support and nurturing care during the postpartum period.
Early on, I was fortunate to find an incredible IBCLC who stood by my side—offering expert advice, steady encouragement, and unwavering compassion.
I would be honored to be that support for you!
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Biology from CSU Stanislaus, and I completed the Lactation Consultant Program at UC San Diego. I am now an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and certified postpartum doula. Additionally, I am infant CPR certified and fully up to date on all vaccinations. My personal experiences also contribute to the depth of compassion I bring to my work. I have navigated raising children with special needs, overcoming birth trauma, and going through IVF and a high-risk pregnancy. These experiences have shaped my understanding and empathy, allowing me to connect with and support families facing a wide range of challenges.
I believe it takes a village to raise a baby, and I’m passionate about the power of a strong support system. Over time, I’ve built relationships with incredible birth workers and perinatal professionals in the area. Through these connections, I can offer trusted referrals to birth doulas, pelvic floor therapists, chiropractors, pediatric dentists, support groups, and other valuable community resources.
Reach out—I’d love to support you on your journey!
